About Olya
Olya completed a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Science, majoring in Environmental Science, Conjoint Degree from the University of Auckland in 2024. She was admitted to the bar in March of 2025.
Prior to working at TEL, she spent three years clerking for a Barrister specialising in Refugee, Immigration, Human Rights and Public Law. During her time as a clerk she worked on matters that were before the Refugee Status Unit, Immigration and Protection Tribunal and the High Court. Olya has also done some pro-bono environmental law work.
Olya’s time as a clerk developed her legal skills, but she retained a strong interest in the environment and resource management work. During her studies, Olya assisted with research both in the Faculty of Law and Faculty of Science; completed a Dissertation on International Environmental Law; and worked with various organisations, such as the Equal Justice Project and Lawyers for Climate Action.
